Miranda was so personable and extremely knowledgeable surrounding all aspects of coffee and the industry in general. I booked her for a private coffee lesson to give as a birthday gift to my coffee connoisseur fiancé— and he LOVED it! She had planned out multiple aspects specifically for what things he was interested in learning more about. Phenomenal experience! Highly recommend any class or lesson with her!

About Miranda:

Miranda Haney (she/they) is a competitive barista, coffee educator, and community organizer living in Austin, Texas. Her coffee journey began in 2015 as a barista at a family-owned bakery in Salisbury, Maryland. In the years since, she's worked at notable coffee companies including Rise Up Coffee Roasters, Greater Goods Coffee (where she led the training program), and hopped behind the bar at acclaimed Austin cafes Proud Mary, Fleet Coffee, Creature Coffee, and Sightseer.

Her commitment to understanding coffee deeply led her to organize her own origin trip to Colombia early in her career, where she worked alongside producers in Valle del Cauca to learn firsthand about cultivation and processing. She’s a two-time U.S. Barista Championships national competitor and runner-up in the 2024 Barista League, Denver.

As a freelance writer for Fresh Cup Magazine and host of the Barista Friend podcast, Miranda shares her passion for coffee education beyond the bar. She currently serves as president of the Austin Coffee Collective and is the founder of Barista Friend, a mobile coffee training service helping both home enthusiasts and professionals develop their coffee skills while fostering a more present, connected coffee community.

Off the clock, Miranda is the lead singer/songwriter for alt-pop band Other Vessels and the founder of Austin Coffee Run Club.
